Providing first aid when working with children is a crucial skill that you will gain through our state-of-the-art short course. The curriculum will cover all the basic knowledge gained in a regular first aid short course, however, will focus more prominently on issues that are specific to children and infants, but are also equally applicable to adults. At the completion of this short course, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide first response to most emergency situations, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
You will gain the confidence and capabilities to ensure that children in your care can be stabilised and provided with initial care until medical staff arrive. This is a short course that is completed in one full day and is accessible to professional child care workers or anyone from the general public looking to brush up on these important skills.
This short course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.
The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
You will gain the confidence and capabilities to ensure in an educational & care setting that children in your care can be stabilised and provided with initial care until medical staff arrive.
Minimum of 16 years of age
- Students will need to be able to read and write to approximately Year 10 level or Cert III in English
- Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
